Today we woke up around 6am and headed out to the Melbourne airport. It was a pretty rough ride considering that we walked outside to only one taxi van and we had to call in another taxi in order to get everyone to the airport on time. It was considered an international flight, of course, from there to Auckland, New Zealand. I say that because it is weird to think of an international flight being only 3 ½ hours long! I’ve never flown to Mexico so this was a short international flight for me. Our taxi drive was crazy! He was going over 80mph and we were taking turns like we were at a racetrack. So we got on the plane with no problems and headed out to New Zealand. The airplane was the most cramped plane I have ever been on in my life. Every time I would take a short nap I’d be woken up by a leg cramp. I’m surprised my knees did not have raw spots on them by the end of the trip. After we landed I got off and immediately called my parents since I was running pretty low on funds. After we got all of our luggage we hauled tail over to the nearest McDonalds. They call McDonalds “mackers” over here haha! After I ate a double cheeseburger combo we got in a taxi and headed to our next place that we are staying…. The Waldorf! It is really nice besides we do not have air conditioning (thank goodness it feels great outside) and do not have washer and dryer. Other than having the regular amenities that we are spoiled with in America everything is great! We have an incredible view and I could not be more impressed with this town. I love it. I also can’t wait to walk around the city and see what it has to offer.
Tonight we went out down the street and tried to find a place to eat. Unfortunately, we could not find a regular place anywhere close to the street we decided to walk down. I think there were more stripper clubs/adult stores on the street than there were places to eat. We ended up eating at a local pizza place where we had some great food. Its pretty funny how lucky we have gotten with the food at random places. Or maybe it is all the food is great here!
I’m going to head to bed and try and find a place to do laundry tomorrow!
